$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get install appstream-generator 

appstream-generator is installed in your system.

Make ensure the appstream-generator package were installed using the commands given below,

$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep appstream-generator *

You will get with appstream-generator package name, version, architecture and description in a table

appstream-generator package basic information:
